A finance graduate and qualified Chartered Accountant, Alistair has extensive business experience in a broad spread of industries as an accountant, finance director and board member. He has been a director of an Orkney based manufacturing and retail business since his return to Orkney in 1984. From 1997 Alistair was a Board Member of Highlands and Islands Enterprise and for six years was involved in a wide variety of economic and community projects across the network. During his time with HIE he served on a number of sub-committees dealing with several high profile cases and was chairman of the Internal Audit Committee from 2000 to 2003, and in August 2005 he was appointed to the Board of the European Marine Test Centre. Having combined running his family business and accountancy practice whilst serving on the board of a number of public and private sector companies Alistair has gained a wide variety of experience in all areas of business development and advice and is currently involved in a number of Orkney basedwind turbine developments. |
